SCOLA Learning Objects are multi-media lessons that help a student acquire a language, using a variety of technology such as video, audio, and self-correcting questions.

Login. Select the Learning Objects icon on the SCOLA homepage.

You can search for Learning Objects one of two ways. A search box appears at the top right of the home page. Enter text and use the magnifying glass icon to quickly search for Learning Objects containing the text.

Another option is to click "Learning Objects" in the brown navigation bar to search for Learning Objects. Enter keywords and text in the Search for box. Select languages, categories, and learning levels using the drop-down buttons. Learning Objects that match all of the criteria entered will be retrieved and displayed on the right side of the page. Leave the criteria blank to retrieve all Learning Objects.

Change to display the results in a list layout or a grid layout using the Layout icons. The left icon displays the results in a list. The right icon displays the results in a grid.

Change the order of the search results using the selections in the Sort by drop-down.

Change the number of results displayed per page using the selections in the Results per page drop-down.

Click on the picture or title of the Learning Object to display the detail for the Learning Object. Click on the picture, title, or the Launch Learning Object button to view the Learning Object, which is displayed in a new viewing window.

Each Learning Object has six segments. You can either click the segment titles on the top of the screen or use the arrow keys at the bottom to navigate between them.

At the bottom of the screen are icons for Legal Notice, Help, Comprehension Strategies, Notes, Glossary and Resources. These icons are linked to helpful information.

Close the window at the top to return to the Learning Objects page.

When the viewing window is closed, feedback can be left about the Learning Object by using the "Click here" link in the section called What Others are Saying.

Bulletins display messages from the site administrator to users of the site. A red icon will appear for important alerts such as the site being unavailable for scheduled maintenance. A blue icon will appear for informational messages. You can scroll through the bulletins using the scroll bar to the right of the bulletin.

"Did You Know?" facts, at the bottom of the home page, are interesting pieces of information about countries and languages. You can scroll through the facts using the up and down arrows to the right of the "Did You Know?" title.

You can create an individual account in the Learning Objects portal to customize the site to your specific needs. An individual account allows you to select your country, language, and time zone preferences, and enables the portal to track the Learning Objects you have recently viewed so that you can see and select them quickly.

Click "My Account" then click "Register" and complete the form to create an account.

When you are registered and logged in, you can customize your account.

Change your password by entering a new password in Password and Confirm password. Use the Save button to save your changes.

Change your time zone using the selections in the Time zone drop-down. Use the Save button to save your changes.

Add a preferred country by selecting it in the available Countries drop-down box and using the plus sign (+) to add it to the selected Countries box. Remove a preferred country by selecting it in the selected Countries box and using the minus sign (-) to remove it from the selected Countries box. Use the Save button to save your changes.

Add a preferred language by selecting it in the available Languages drop-down box and using the plus sign (+) to add it to the selected Languages box. Remove a preferred language by selecting it in the selected Languages box and using the minus sign (-) to remove it from the selected Languages box. Use the Save button to save your changes.

If you have registered for an individual account in the Learning Objects portal, use the Sign In option in the My Account menu to sign in to your account.
